Different wooden blocks
Innovative wood blocks
Conventional" timber frames are usually made from two different materials. Unlike Gablok wood blocks, which are made from OSB wood only. The insulation they contain is EPS (expanded polystyrene).
OSB is actually a mixture of wood and natural resin. Formaldehyde-free, OSB respects the environment in which it is used. The wood used is entirely compressed. As a result, there's no risk of it shifting over time, as it no longer works.
This wood has been recognized by CSTC (Centre Scientifique et Technique de la Construction) standards. What makes a Gablok wood structure different from a conventional frame is that the Gablok house is airtight. A vapour barrier is placed over the blocks, acting as a waterproof membrane. A ventilation system ensures air renewal.
As for EPS, this material is made up of 98% air - the best insulating material available - and 2% compressed, recyclable material.
Choosing Gablok means choosing a different kind of wood block
Thanks to this combination of EPS and OSB, choosing Gablok means choosing an ultra-insulating concept that will protect your home from thermal bridges, all year round.
